Many people are looking for solutions to power hungry, too bright street lights. The good news is that now there are some great choices for solar powered street lighting. They've gotten brighter and nicer looking, too.

In this lens I'll talk about some of the options currently available in solar powered outdoor street lighting for your home or community.

I just learned about a company named Gamasonic, a manufacturer of solar powered street lamps. They're stylish and most importantly, they're bright. That's always been the problem with solar street lighting.

They claim to light a full 7' in diameter from the post. They boast super-bright LED's which use a special patented cone reflector to make the light brighter.

I'd love to see more people use this technology not only for the obvious environmental benefits, but also because while they're brighter than most other solar outdoor street lights, they have much less glare than conventional street lights.

Granted, these are not the kind of lights that the city will be installing, but they'd be great for community lighting projects or just to put in front of your own home to add security and visibility at night.

The best part for me with solar lighting is the fact that I don't have to wire anything and they come on automatically. The batteries last a very long time and the LEDs can last over 15 years or so.

It just keeps getting better!
